My Journey to Virtual Assistant

“Never stop learning, because life never stops teaching”.

This quote always reminded me of my journey from production, to an office setup and now to working from home.

My Why?

Unexplainable Joy a mother could have while working from home as Virtual Assistant
Dreamed comfort at Home

As a mother, I always take into consideration the welfare of my children. This is one of the reasons I resigned from production work for more than 12 years. Faced with difficulties in finding a house helper to attend to our daughter, household chores, and also instilling Godly values in her, I and my husband decided that I should resign from work.

Accustomed, to a daily routine of work setup, I find it hard to cope with my new routines. I have tried several means to make myself busy aside from taking care of my daughter, I engaged in online selling of different commodities from clothing, bags, and salted eggs. However, this was not enough to suffice our monthly expenses for we have a car, house, and lot to be paid monthly.

After 2 years of being unemployed, I was offered to work by the principal of the school where my daughter was enrolled. Since I would be hitting two birds with one stone (office work and I’m also with my daughter) I took the job.

I have been working for 5 years now in that institution but prior to the pandemic, I got pregnant with our second child. This has led me into thinking of looking for a new source of income in the comforts of my home, for the school was also affected by the pandemic which led to a decrease in enrollees. I was allowed to report to work at least once or twice a week and do my other work task online.

My Realization

Time freedom and leisure working at home as Virtual Assistant
Breaking the Cycle of Routines

Since I’ve been working from home, why not make the most of it? Enjoying its comfort together with my family and earning as well.

I have decided to enroll in a Virtual Assistance Course under Surge Marketplace Academy. Unknown to the new setup that I will be facing, upon starting the video lessons I find it hard to deal with the new technicalities that it has.

From the very first lesson on doing Business Branding, I almost give up. More difficulties arose like using CANVA and making my own social media accounts like Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Also, profiling on Upwork and Online jobs. These activities were all new to me.

Although bombarded with those struggles, I came to appreciate every time I spent creating my designs in CANVA, then I was able to come up with my Brand.

I found it interesting to make my output in every lesson that I finished. It gives me fulfillment upon reading Coach Grace's compliments on my work.

I sometimes cannot even notice the time was already 3 o'clock in the morning and still I've been doing my assignments.

My Learnings

Sweet smile of contentment and joy of a virtual assistant
Freedom unfold by Virtual Assistant

These challenged me a lot and give me determination and perseverance to move forward and finished the course.

I know I have a long way to go for I’m just almost half of the course activity. However, I can truly say that the passion I have to be able to give my best effort in each task was awakened again.

Competition is stiff in the Virtual Assistant job, but with this kind of attitude, I can proudly say that I can make it and be able to complete this course with flying colors, and with God's help and favor I claim, I can have the intended job that is right for my capabilities and knowledge.
